Night school

The same idea as the open classroom, moved to the hour when a working adult can actually arrive.

UpcomingNairobi, opening with the next term
Adults seated together for a seminar in a bright room.

Evening classes for adults whose days are already spoken for.

Why the evening

A classroom at ten in the morning is useless to someone who is at work then. The program moves the hour, not the standard. There is still a teacher, a classroom, and a way back in.

What is already true

The halls exist, and the hosts have agreed the evenings. What is not yet true is the wage. We will not print a start date until that is covered for a full term.

Who it is for

Adults who already know the building. The class is not a recruitment drive. It is an answer to a request that arrived from the people already using the hall.

Goals

  1. 01Open three evenings a week in two existing halls.
  2. 02Recruit teachers who can stay after their own work, and pay them for that evening.
  3. 03Keep the class small enough that a person who missed a fortnight can be brought back in.

Timeline

  1. 2025Asked for. Adults already using the weekly table asked for a class that did not require them to leave work at noon.
  2. 2026Teachers and lamps. The seed fund is gathering wages for the first term, and light reliable enough to read by.
  3. Next termA first register. Enrolment will be in person, in the hall, on a published evening. There will not be an online form.

The classrooms already exist. What is still being gathered is the evening: teachers who can stay after their own work, lamps, and a register that does not assume a person is free at noon.

How to help

Night school is not open yet. A gift now is a seed: it pays for the first term’s teachers. Write and we will confirm what has already been promised before you send anything.
