The next group should not have to ask whether the room is still theirs.
Past the hour
The door stays open after the time on the notice. Chairs are put back. The board is left readable. Someone has swept, not because a visitor is expected, but because the room will be used again in the morning.
A missed Wednesday
A girl is absent for a week. Nobody writes a report about her. The teacher asks the woman who keeps the weekly table, because the two of them share a building and a habit of noticing. The girl is back the following Monday. Her seat was not given away.
What the program protects
Teachers, time, and a place to continue. The education program describes that structure. This is the habit inside it: the classroom kept ready for the people who already know the way there.
What it costs
The unremarkable things. A wage that arrives on the day it was promised. A shutter that closes in the rain. The story is quiet because the work, when it is going well, does not look like an emergency.
